1. Explain the political significance of the concept of 'press freedom' and its relationship to representative democracy. Why do you think freedom of the press is important? How much influence do you think the government should have about the things reported in the UK press? Press freedom is significant as it presents media institutions with the ability to produce stories in any political alignment that they desire and also publish any stories they feel are in the public interest. This is important as it means the public can receive news stories that they need to hear about even if they damage other people's reputations. The Paradise Papers story coverage Write up a description of the main differences between the two front pages from The Guardian and The Daily Mail, looking at both conventions and how the stories have been presented to the reader. The Guardian's front page is full with socialist ideologies using the words "controversial" and "exploiting" in the headline. These negative words show the Queen damaging light connoting that she knew what she was doing. The use of the word "poor" victimises people who don't put their money offshore, worsening the image of the Queen. Furthermore, it refers to the socialist ideas recognising with the audience The Daily Mail front page shows their capitalist ideologies by the use of the word "dragged" to make the Queen seem like the victim in the incident.
